Last year, the Hot Chocolate Churro made its debut for the Festival of Holidays at Disney California Adventure. This year, the dessert returns, much to our chagrin. We weren’t huge fans of this churro last year, but let’s dig in again and see if our opinion changed!

Hot Chocolate Churro – $7.25
Chocolate Chile Churro with Chocolate and Chile Streusel, Mini Marshmallows, and Hazelnut Spread
This churro was somewhat disappointing. It’s not that the chocolate-dusted churro was bad; it just didn’t bring a lot of flavor. As it takes the place of the cinnamon sugar of a traditional churro, it is a little less enjoyable.
The hazelnut chocolate drizzle is pleasant but doesn’t make up for the lackluster churro. The spicy chocolate streusel isn’t so much a part of the churro as it is just served alongside. The chunks are so large that they don’t go with the churro, no matter how hard you try.
But that’s a good thing as they are not great, bringing a generic “gas station salsa-flavored corn chip” flavor to the mix that we would just as soon leave out. Overall, this isn’t great, and we will skip this next time we visit the Tivan Collection.
