Since our last construction update, crews have painted the new structure on Grand Avenue at Disney’s Hollywood Studios with primer. The structure is thought to be a new snack stand. Construction walls went up in the area in June, and crews knocked down nearby walls later that month. By August, a black framework was in place for a small structure. Then, paneling was installed and brickwork was added.

The concrete sections of the structure that weren’t covered in brick have been painted white, priming the building for future color.

The front wall of the stand, facing the façades across from the Muppet courtyard, is completely white.

Most of the stand is covered in brickwork, though.

A tan scrim is around the front of the stand, but the primed wall is still visible.

There are some holes in the wall, potentially for future light fixtures or signage.

The primer continues on the wall facing Muppet*Vision 3D.

The structure is tucked into a section of pre-existing brick wall and columns, which is what is visible in this photo.

Disney has not made any official announcements about what this structure will be. A snack cart already exists in this area but could be removed with the opening of a new, more permanent kiosk.

More About Grand Avenue

Muppet*Vision 3D entrance

Grand Avenue is home to Muppet*Vision 3D, which opened in 1991 as one of the first representations of the Muppets in Disney Parks, and the only permanent Muppets attraction since then. As production began on Muppet*Vision 3D, there was a tentative agreement for Disney to purchase the Jim Henson Company. However, Henson’s death in 1990 ended that agreement and delayed the attraction.

Disney did purchase the theme park rights to the Muppets and eventually purchased the property entirely in 2004.

Until 2016, Muppet*Vision 3D was part of the Streets of America. After the rest of the land was demolished, it was briefly known as Muppets Courtyard. The land was named Grand Avenue in 2017.

Muppet*Vision 3D received updated projection mapping in October. The Miss Piggy fountain outside the show was refurbished around the same time.

Guests can currently meet Santa Claus at It’s a Wonderful Shop, a former year-round holiday store in Grand Avenue.
