Universal Launches Website for Potential Theme Park in Bedford, England

Universal Destinations & Experiences has launched a webpage dedicated to their “UK Project.” Earlier this week, Universal confirmed they had purchased land in Bedford, England and were “exploring its feasibility” for a possible theme park.

The Universal UK Project website continues to emphasize they are just “exploring” possible experiences for the land, which is about 45 miles from the edge of London and the Warner Bros. Studio Tour – The Making of Harry Potter. The potential park would be in the yellow section of the above map released by Universal.

Here is what Universal wrote on the website:

Universal Destinations & Experiences is in the very early stages of exploring the possibility of a potential park and resort experience in Bedford, England. Whilst our parent company, Comcast Corporation, has purchased a parcel of land near Bedford, we are only at the beginning of our feasibility study as part of our evaluation of potential sites. It may well therefore be many months before we decide whether this potential project will proceed.

Collaboration and community engagement are at the core of any new experience we explore, and if we do proceed with a project in Bedford, there will be opportunities to meet with us and discuss any plans as they develop. Thank you for visiting.

Universal Destinations & Experiences also sent a letter to local residents and shared this letter on the UK Project website. They noted that Universal theme parks create “thousands of jobs and generate significant positive economic impact, both locally and further afield.” They also stated they are “committed to enhancing natural beauty and protecting the ecology of the areas where we operate.” Universal hopes to “work closely with our local communities should we progress.”

Are you hoping the UK Project turns into a theme park? Let us know in the comments.
