Urayasu City Receives Bomb Threat for Tokyo Disney Resort

Urayasu City Hall in the Chiba Prefecture of Japan received an email on Thursday morning stating bombs had been planted at Tokyo Disney Resort and surrounding city facilities.

Disney Resort Line Tokyo Train Monorail

According to Livedoor News, the email stated the threat was in response to changes in rapid service on the Keiyo Line operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East), which connects Tokyo and Chiba, where the Disney Resort Line begins. JR East has announced plans to end rapid train service during non-peak times in the middle of the day.

The email was received just after 7:30 a.m. on December 21 and warned of “multiple highly lethal bombs” (translated) around Tokyo Disney Resort. Police increased their presence at Maihama Station, where the Disney Resort Line begins, and the surrounding area.

There have not yet been any reports of bombs being discovered or disruptions to railway service and park operations.

Also on Thursday, police received fake reports of a shooter at Disneyland Hotel in California.
