January is a slower month for visitors to the parks, so Universal Orlando tends to focus on getting refurbishment projects out of the way before the Mardi Gras and Spring Break crowds arrive.

Some refurbishments are taking place in the Hollywood section of Universal Studios Florida right now, which may be the reason for the closure. Universal’s Horror Make-Up Show will be closing on January 16, 2024. Thankfully, the closure is only expected to last a few days.

UOR Website Horror Make Up Refurbishment

The official Universal Orlando website has been updated and now shows the Universal Horror Make-Up Show as being closed from January 16-18. The closure is very short, so we assume there won’t be too many significant changes.

At the time of publication, there is refurbishment happening around the parade gates next to the attraction, which may impact the entrance. It seems likely this pavement repair may be the reason for the closure.
