REVIEW: Candy Painted Cinnamon Rolls & Savory Churros from Ice Cold Hydraulics

The Ice Cold Hydraulics kiosk at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is now open after construction walls came down and the menu was revealed on Monday.

Ice Cold Hydraulics stand in Grand Avenue

The new Coca-Cola stand is in the Los Angeles-themed Grand Avenue, outside the Muppet*Vision 3D courtyard and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge entrance. Special menu items are the Candy Painted Cinnamon Rolls and Bouncin’ Mini Churros. Regular cinnamon rolls, mini churros, Mickey-shaped pretzels, popcorn, cotton candy, and ice cream products are also available.

We got the Candy Painted Cinnamon Rolls and Bouncin’ Mini Churros, as well as a frozen Jack and Coke. The drink was already available at Peevy’s Polar Pipeline by Echo Lake. Other alcoholic and non-alcoholic frozen slushies and drinks are available at Ice Cold Hydraulics, too.

Candy Painted Cinnamon Rolls – $8.99

Candy Painted Cinnamon Rolls

These are grab-and-go quality cinnamon rolls, like you might get at a hotel’s continental breakfast station. They are at least soft and fresh. The syrup drizzle is sweet with a hint of Coke flavoring, but there isn’t enough of it to make the rolls less dry. This is a fine quick option but nothing special.

Bouncin’ Mini Churros – $8.99

savory churros topped with Coca-Cola and bourbon candied bacon, sriracha aioli, and scallions

Bouncin’ Mini Churros

This snack is a unique and interesting winner. We would equate the flavor palate to that of a loaded baked potato, bringing bacon, chive, and cheese flavors to the starchy treat. The sriracha aioli adds a tiny kick but there’s not enough to turn off those adverse to heat. The churros themselves were surprisingly soft and edible for Walt Disney World, which may bode well for the sweet version too. But the freshness will also depend on when you visit and operations changing them out regularly before they age.

Jack Daniel’s Whiskey with Coke – $15

Jack Daniel’s Whiskey with Coke

This is the usual mix of frozen Coca-Cola infused with Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey. It’s a sweet frozen version of a regular Jack and Coke that we enjoy.

Overall

It’s nice to see a basic snack cart replaced with a permanent themed location that can offer more options. The attempt to do interesting new things is appreciated, even if they slightly miss the mark. Ice Cold Hydraulics is a good quick stop for a drink or snack before getting in line for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. There are limited breakfast options in the parks so any addition in that realm is welcome.
