Disney and Lucasfilm revealed the premiere date for “The Acolyte,” their next Disney+ “Star Wars” series, and announced a trailer is coming on Tuesday, March 19.
“The Acolyte” Coming Soon
A poster for “The Acolyte” features a lightsaber hilt with a streak of red blood creating the illusion of a blade across concrete. It reads, “In an age of light, a darkness rises.” The series is set during the High Republic era of the “Star Wars” universe, over 100 years before the events of the “Star Wars” films.
“The Acolyte” will premiere on Disney+ on June 4, 2024. The previously reported tentative release date was June 5.
It was created by showrunner and executive producer Leslye Headland. It stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.
Kathleen Kennedy, Simon Emanuel, Jeff F. King, and Jason Micallef also executive produce. Charmaine DeGraté and Kor Adana are co-executive producers. Rayne Roberts and Damian Anderson are producers.
The first public “Acolyte” footage was shown at Star Wars Celebration last year but never widely released. In late 2022, photos of filming surfaced.
