Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe in Magic Kingdom has seen a number of upgrades as it undergoes refurbishment.
Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe Refurbishment
The side entrance, which is to the right of the main entrance has gotten a fresh coat of paint, as we noted during our previous visit. This area, and the back side of the building that was once blocked off the rolling planters, is now completely accessible for guests to walk around.
Though the area is no longer covered, we did notice that the new paint that was added to this portion of the building is also all over the white window frame, so it is likely this area of the refurbishment is not entirely complete just yet.
Refurbishment on the year-round Christmas store began in December of 2023. Inside, guests can purchase things line Christmas ornaments and decorations. The Liberty Square shop remains open to guests while the work is being done.
The central entrance and its courtyard are both covered in scrim and blocked by rolling planters. These have both been in place for over a month. Just beyond the scrim there is usually a sleigh that guests can sit in and a small amount of additional seating.
Perhaps the most notable update is that a new railing and staircase have been installed on a second-floor doorway to the left of the main entrance. The stairs were covered in black tarp during our visit. This doorway is not for guest use, though there is one just below it that is closed during the construction.
During a February visit, all that was left of this area was the balcony platform outside the door and the post that’s flush against the brick wall of the building. The railings, posts that lead down to the floor, and the stairs are all new.
Going around the building, it appears some areas are still left to be refurbished, as this door frame could use a new coat of paint.
Additionally, this door frame and the floor and posts around it are in need of an update.
