Work continues on The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers and Blue Ribbon Corn Dog at Disney’s BoardWalk. Both venues were originally scheduled to open last year but were delayed to 2024.
The Cake Bake Shop
Crews have installed facia on the edges of the Cake Bake Shop’s roofs. We could hear them working inside, too.
In construction, fascia is a long, straight board that lines the lower edge of a roof.
In our last update, we noted that the dormer roofs had new metal paneling. A cherry-picker vehicle was in front of the building, with the bucket by the roof, but we didn’t see any crew members outside.
The facia is made of reddish-brown planks of wood. Black sheathing lines the windows of the dormers and tower.
One section of the roof is still exposed plywood with no sheathing. This is directly behind the main entrance marquee and around a dormer roof.
Some blue-purple sheathing has gone up around the supports of the marquee. This is where guests will enter the table-service restaurant side of The Cake Bake Shop.
On the right, guests will enter the quick-service bakery. There’s also more blue sheathing on this structure.
Signs will presumably be installed on the exposed steel frames.
The Cake Bake Shop recently began hiring Cast Members.
Blue Ribbon Corn Dog
Blue Ribbon Corn Dog is taking over this kiosk on the boardwalk. We saw two crew members on site this Wednesday, working around the open blue doors on the side of the stand.
There is new wood paneling on this wall.
Three windows by PGT were recently installed on the front.
There’s also wood paneling framing these. Presumably, guests will order with Cast Members here.
The door on this side of the stand will be for Cast Members to enter the stand.
We’ve seen crew members going in and out here.
Blue Ribbon Corn Dog will offer some of the same menu items as its location at Disneyland Resort. Disney previously teased the Mexican Street Corn Dog and Pickle Dog.
