According to Associated Press, Disney asked a federal appellate court to dismiss their lawsuit on Thursday after the District’s Board of Supervisors approved the development agreement on Wednesday night.

The lawsuit regarded Disney’s right to free speech and DeSantis retaliating against them for condemning the Parental Rights in Education bill. Judge Allen Winsor dismissed the suit in January but Disney immediately filed for appeal. The suit was delayed after Disney and the District settled their state lawsuits in March. The lawsuit remained on pause while the two parties figured out their new development agreement.

Jeff Vahle, Walt Disney World Resort President, said, “This new development agreement paves the way for us to invest billions of dollars in Walt Disney World Resort, supporting the growth of this global destination, fueling the Florida economy, and allowing us to deliver even more memorable and extraordinary experiences for our guests.”

“This agreement is a big win for central Florida and will lead to numerous jobs and improved guest experiences,” said Bryan Griffin, communications director for Governor DeSantis’ office.
