The Disney Parks Blog has shared the first look at what the Country Bears will be wearing when the reimagined Country Bear Musical Jamboree opens later this month at Magic Kingdom.
First Look at Country Bear Musical Jamboree Animatronics
The post from the Parks Blog shares a look at the “who’s who” of the Country Bear Musical Jamboree, and offers a first look at their updated costumes alongside short biographies for each character, starting with Ursus H. Bear:
Ursus H. Bear
After an inspirational hibernation season, Ursus H. Bear set out to create a permanent cultural showplace dedicated to America’s musical heritage. In 1898, Ursus established Grizzly Hall where the honey tycoon-turned-impresario invited tuneful bruins to present zany and captivating performances in a show that quickly became known as a wild and wooly good time!
Henry
Henry has traded in his top hat for a white cowboy hat and matching coat for the Country Bear Musical Jamboree, though still serves as the “master of bear-emonies.” According to Disney, Henry “helped develop the current show and co-wrote the opening song with the Five Bear Rugs.”
The photo above shows what Henry looked like in the show’s previous iteration, with his raccoon friend Sammy.
Five Bear Rugs
The Five Bear Rugs also got updated costumes, with Zeke, Zeb, Ted, Fred, and Tennessee all sporting matching blue bandanas.
Above is what the band looked like during their run in the Country Bear Jamboree.
Even Zeb’s son, Oscar, got an update. He’s given up his teddy bear for a new Big Al plush.
Trixie
Trixie is ready to take the stage in her new, hot pink cowgirl getup. She’ll sing “Try Everything” from “Zootopia” alongside Bunny, Bubbles, and Beulah.
In the previous show, Trixie wore a blue bow and skirt, and held a blue handkerchief and wine glass.
Bunny, Bubbles, and Beulah
Formerly known as The Sun Bonnets, this trio has turned in their bonnets for Stetsons and matching pink cowgirl two-piece outfits, and now tours with Trixie around the world.
This photo shows what the group used to look like. All three wore matching blue bonnets and blouses.
Teddi Barra
The Jewel of the Dakotas is back, this time with a brand-new look. She now wears a pink cowboy hat with blue and purple feathers, a blue and green jeweled necklace, and a light blue feather boa.
In the previous version of the show, she wore a matching pink hat and boa set with a complementary jeweled necklace.
Wendell
For the Country Bear Musical Jamboree, Wendell will get to sing a love song with Teddi Barra, much to the dismay of Henry. He also got a new wardrobe, now wearing a leather cowboy hat, purple bandana, and vest.
You can see Wendell’s previous look in the photo; he’s positioned to the right of the Sun Bonnets.
Ernest the Dude
Called “one of the best-dressed bears” at Grizzly Hall, Ernest the Dude will wear a new outfit clearly inspired by Bert from Disney’s “Mary Poppins.” According to Disney, he brings his entire wardrobe wherever he goes — 17 trunks filled with 30 coats, 40 slacks, 60 shirts, 20 hats, and a pair and a half of underwear.
Ernest previously wore a blue and brown top hat and white collar with a matching bowtie.
Terrence, a.k.a. Shaker
Shaker got his start as an actor, but ever since a fall from the balcony in “Romeo and Juliet” brought the house down (literally), he’s been strumming the guitar and dancing along with the bears.
He now wears a green vest with a blue bow, white collar, and a slightly dingy hat. His guitar has also been updated.
Shaker previously wore a matching tan hat and vest combo, with a red guitar.
Romeo McGrowl
Romeo McGrowl (formerly Liver Lips McGrowl) is ready to step into his new rockabilly era with the Country Bear Musical Jamboree. His wardrobe change is the most drastic of all the bears, as he now wears a new Elvis-inspired blue and pink suit, a platinum coiffed hairdo, and a personalized electric guitar. This isn’t his first stint as an Elvis look-alike, as he’s donned similar costumes at Tokyo Disneyland for Country Bear Vacation Jamboree and Jingle Bell Jamboree.
Pictured above is a photo of McGrowl from the Vacation Jamboree, and our video of the show can be found below.
In Country Bear Jamboree, Romeo previously has a brown, flat hairstyle, a simple guitar, and a pair of dark pants held up by a single strap.
Gomer
Grizzly Hall’s resident piano player keeps the spirit of his original look, but has shaved his soul patch and sports a new coat of fur.
Now decked out in black fur and a red tie with a white collar, Gomer previously had red fur with a blonde, pointed soul patch, and wore a yellow tie with a white collar.
Big Al
Last but not least is Big Al. He now wears a pale tan hat and a red vest with gold patterning, but still has his “Big Al”-branded guitar — just in a lighter color. He previously wore a matching hat and vest set that was more red-orange in color.
