Disney Lookout Cay Walkway Named ‘Bob Chapek Pier’ in Google Maps Joke

An unsatisfied fan with a sense of humor has named the half-mile-long pier that connects Disney Cruise Line ships to Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point Bob Chapek Pier on Google Maps.

Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point opened on June 6, 2024, and joined Disney Castaway Cay as one of two Bahamian islands available exclusively to Disney Cruise Line guests. While the island is home to restaurants, cabanas, souvenir shops, and plenty of water and land activities, it also features a daunting half-mile pier. The pier has no shade or tram, and every guest who wants to enjoy Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point must make the half-mile trek on foot from their ship to the island.

Due to the unpopularity of the walk, one guest took it upon themself to name the walkway Bob Chapek Pier, after the former CEO of the Walt Disney Company who was fired in November of 2022.

The “tourist attraction” currently has an average rating of 1.8 stars from 18 raters. Six of the nine written reviews give the pier one star. One user, Sam Warren, wrote:

I feel like Disney has been super cheap here. Disney of old would have at minimum included shade, or even a tram! I think this is another example of disney (sic) cost cutting hurting the consumer in the pursuit of profits

A Local Guide, who simply goes by M, had this to say:

You paid thousands of dollars for your Disney Cruise? Too bad, sucker – you’re gonna walk… and walk… and walk to the island. And then alllll the way back. Without any cover.

Welcome to Disney’s new, unfinished island.

Disney has yet to disclose whether they plan to eventually include trams or shade along the pier. Perhaps the company will move quickly to rectify the situation with Bob Chapek Pier like they did when relieving the former CEO of his duties.
