Disneyland Resort is set to also make changes to the Never Land Tribe scene aboard Peter Pan’s Flight following the update at Walt Disney World, according to The Orange County Register (OCR).
Disneyland to Update Never Land Tribe Scene
Per the OCR, Walt Disney Imagineering will make the cultural sensitivity changes to the attraction that were recently unveiled at Walt Disney World in Magic Kingdom, with the new scene depicting Tiger Lily “with dignity and cultural authenticity.”
Disneyland “expects to update the Never Land Tribe scene […] with changes similar to those made at the Magic Kingdom,” according to resort officials.
Peter Pan’s Flight is currently not scheduled for refurbishment (through September 30, as far as the Disneyland operating calendar goes) in order to make this change. That being said, the operating calendar can change at any time. Disneyland officials confirmed to the OCR that the timing for the changes has not been set.
The new Never Land Tribe scene on the ride at Magic Kingdom shows Tiger Lily and her great-grandmother on a spinning turntable in front of three new tipis, while other members of her tribe play a nearby drum. Tipis depicted in other art throughout the queue and load area have been updated to reflect the changes on the ride.
The Walt Disney World version of the attraction closed on July 8, making the turnaround for the updated scene about a month and a half long. Peter Pan’s Flight reopened on August 16, 2024, five days sooner than previously scheduled.
