BREAKING: First-Ever Monsters, Inc. Land Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios will get the world’s first-ever “Monsters, Inc.” land, Disney announced at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.

Billy Crystal, the voice of Mike Wazowski, came on stage at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event to announce the Monsters, Inc. news. Roz also appeared via the big screen. Crystal performed a version of the film’s “If I Didn’t Have You.”

The new land is set after the events of “Monsters, Inc.” (2001). Humans are invited to visit Monstropolis and tour the laugh factory. Concept art shows the factory, a Sulley-inspired slide, and city streets.

The ride inside the factor will be Disney’s first-ever suspended roller-coaster inspired by the famous door scene from “Monsters, Inc.”

“The first time I saw ‘Monsters, Inc.’, all I wanted to do was ride on one of those doors like Mike and Sulley,” Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro said. “You’ll go into the factory and experience the first suspended coaster ever in a Disney park. Remember in the movie how those claws grab the doors and hoist them up into the air to take them away? We’re doing that, too. And you’re going along for the ride.”

Work on the project will begin in 2025.

A model of the coaster was revealed at D23. Check out every Disney Parks announcement from D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
