Face Giant Death Angels in A Quiet Place at Halloween Horror Nights 33

Katie Francis

If the Death Angels in the “A Quiet Place” house were real, we’d all be dead right now. Seriously, y’all screamed that much just from being jumpscared by a big puppet? (I jest. They were a little scary.)

Step into the world of A Quiet Place, a post-apocalyptic wasteland overrun by aliens that want to eat you.

A Quiet Place House

Silence your screams if you want to survive the terrifying, post-apocalyptic world. Like the Abbott family, you must keep quiet as you travel from the farmhouse to the woods, to the foundry. As soon as you make a sound, monstrous creatures who can hear the slightest noise, will hunt you down and silence you for good.

Backstory

The house is based on the 2018 film of the same name. It stars John Krasinski (who also directed), Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe as the Abbott family, who are surviving in a world infested by aliens.

After the world was invaded and fell apart, survivors must live silent lives, as the blind and nearly-unkillable Death Angels hunt and kill humans, using super-hearing to detect prey. The film takes place primarily on the Abbott’s farm.

This house suffered in the way that many big-name Intellectual Property (IP) houses do. It’s clear that a lot of money was spent here, from the sets to the Death Angels. But that left little behind for any heart.

I wax poetic about this every time I talk about the Behind the Screams tours, but part of what makes HHN houses so good is the attention to detail. The team puts so much effort into making the environments alive that when they can’t, it’s a night-and-day difference. The tiny details that no one sees aren’t just there for the hardcore fans who do lights-on tours. They’re there because, like mise en place in film, your brain may not draw much attention to those little things, but it notices them all the same, lending authenticity to the environment.

There’s not a lot of room here for that. The money and time go to replicating the larger scenes from the film. It leaves the set a little hollow.

That is not to say there aren’t some beautiful scenes here. The Abbott house with the “A Quiet Place” marquee is noteworthy, and there’s an outdoor scene with a boat that is stunning.

The Scareactors are great, as always, but there aren’t enough humans. There are plenty of Death Angels, though, and the puppetry is always phenomenal.

What works the best here is the silence. There’s no background music, and when those audio cues hit, you know there’s going to be a Death Angel, but you don’t know where. When you hear any sound, it starts to fill you with instantaneous dread. It’s an interesting change of pace that suits the story very well.

Overall, this house is worth a visit, but we wouldn’t stand in a long line to do it again.
