Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter Opens Refurbished Rooms to Guests

This past weekend we saw reports that Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter opened newly refurbished rooms to about 60+ guests.

Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter Refurbishment

A hotel room with two large beds, wooden furniture, a ceiling fan, and a window with sheer curtains. The walls are painted green and white, and the floor has wooden laminate.

This is a look at what the rooms looked like before this refurbishment. In April of this year, we reported that some rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter would begin undergoing refurbishment in May. We do expect this refurbishment to continue in other buildings and rooms through November 2024.

The pictures that were shared on Facebook are from a refurbished room in Building 1.

A hotel room with two queen beds, an orange accent pillow, a flat-screen TV, a kitchenette area, and an open bathroom concept. Towels are arranged on one bed.

The new rooms feature a fresh coat of cream paint that brightens the room. There are small nods to “The Princess and the Frog” and the New Orleans Mardi Gras season throughout the refurbished room.

The flooring below the beds appears to have been changed as well. Previously there was a straight pattern with a darker wood framing the interior (barely seen in the first image above). Now it is a more chevron pattern.

A hotel room with two neatly made double beds featuring white linens and orange accent pillows. A bedside table with a phone and an informational card sits between the beds.

The headboards above the beds are framed in the pale blue teal color that once coated the entire wall. There is a fun mosaic-style pattern just above the headboard. There are also new lighting sconces above each bed. There are black reading lights incorporated on either side of the headboard that appear to fold into it when not in use.

On the bed, there is a Mickey-shaped towel art and a card that reads, “Our hope is that your room feels welcoming and adds to the amazing memories you will create here. Thank you for choosing Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter Resort. Sincerely, Your Housekeeping Team”

A hotel room with a neatly made bed, decorative headboard, wall-mounted lamp, orange bolster pillow, small wall painting, and nightstand with a phone and power outlet.

The linens on the bed appear the same as before but now have a fun orange throw pillow to bring more color to the bed. There are small fleur-de-lis in a repeating pattern in the two bands on either side of the pillow.

There is a small shelf affixed on the wall next to the headboard closest to the bathroom for more storage. In the center bedside table, there is more storage as well as USB-A and USB-C charging ports.

A framed painting of dancers beside a carnival and a blue sliding door with intricate yellow designs leading to a bathroom.

A closer look at the wall in the background reveals a new barn door to the bathroom. It’s painted in that same pale blue color scheme as the headboards with gold metal details on the front and handle. The pattern’s design includes details like Tiana’s crown from “The Princess and the Frog.”

In the framed artwork to the right of the barn door is a party scene set in the French Quarter of New Orleans. There are big Mardi Gras floats going by and beads being tossed as Charlotte La Bouff, Princess Tiana’s friend, dances in the street.

A bathroom vanity area with two sinks, a large mirror, toiletries, and additional storage spaces. The room's reflection shows part of a closet with hangers and a bag.

Just beyond the barn door is the bathroom. A goldtone-framed mirror sits above a double sink with lighting behind it. There is a white marble look to the vanity.

A bathroom with a wooden vanity, sink, towels, and toiletries on the left; a shower with a glass door and herringbone-patterned tiles on the right.

Just below the sinks, there is an additional storage shelf and a pullout stool for guests to better reach higher spots in the room. The floor has been refurbished in the bathroom as well, and now features a mosaic pattern in the color scheme of the entire room, tying the whole redesign together. The shower now has a white herringbone tile pattern.

Three wall-mounted dispensers labeled "Shampoo," "Conditioner," and "Body Wash Sea Salt" are arranged on a white tiled wall.

In the shower, there are Disney Resorts Shampoo, Conditioner, and Body Wash dispensers fixed onto the wall.

A split image showing a bathroom vanity with toiletries on the left and an open closet with hangers, a safe, and shelves on the right.

Back in the main area of the room, near the vanity, is a full-size mirror to check your Disney Bounding ‘fit before hitting the parks. There is a cubby space by the vanity and a full-size ironing board. Opposite the cubbies on the other wall is where the safe and hanging closet are located.

A hotel room with two beds, a dresser with a TV mounted above showing a Disney resort channel, an armchair, and a view of a bathroom area with a sink and mirror through a sliding door.

The television is on the wall just above the long-set dresser. There are some built-in shelves in the far corner where the coffee machine and ice bucket can be found. An Alexa ‘Hey Disney!’ device sits in the center.

The dresser is painted in the same blue as the barn door with gold pulls. The top of the dresser looks like white marble. There are more USB-A and USB-C ports on the dresser, so there should be plenty of different plugs to accommodate guests’ charging needs.

Left side shows a corner of a room with a coffee station on a counter under decorative shelves. Right side focuses on an under-counter mini-fridge behind a cabinet door.

Here is a better look at those built-in shelves. The brick pattern with iron detail on these tiles gives the room a neat touch. What is particularly fun about the shelves are the floating pieces of confetti and beads depicted on the tile. The beverage cooler is hidden behind the screened door in the dresser of the console.

A small seating area with an ornate cushioned bench, a round table, and two decorative oval paintings on the wall above. There is a window to the left with curtains and a TV to the right.

Here is the seating area, which has received a facelift as well. The air conditioning unit below the window has been painted a pale blue color with a white marbled topper. The curtains have been replaced with a more detailed but muted pattern that better matches the sofa.

The seat of the sofa matches the golden accent pieces elsewhere in the room. The back of the sofa is a sage green with a bold repeating pattern. The table that sits in front of the sofa is a muted brown, but the Mickey in Mardi Gras beads is a wonderful touch by housekeeping.

Two framed oval paintings on a beige wall, one depicting a group of people dancing in a street at night, and the other showing three animals, including an alligator, playing musical instruments.

There are two Mardi Gras portraits above the sofa in golden oval frames. The first features Princess Tiana and Prince Naveen dancing in the street to a silhouetted band. The other features Louis playing his trumpet while onlookers watch and throw beads from the balcony above.
