The Los Angeles Times reports that The Walt Disney Company has been met with a class action lawsuit accusing the company of “negligence, breach of implied contract and other misconduct” after 1.1TB of data was compromised in July 2024.

The complaint was submitted on Thursday, October 3 in Los Angeles Superior Court by plaintiff Scott Margel against Disney and Disney California Adventure. There are estimated to be thousands of class members involved in the lawsuit. Each has “highly sensitive personal information” that was involved in the data breach.

The data breach, which took place after the hacktivist group “Nullbulge” obtained access to Disney’s internal Slack platform, included Dinsey Cruise Line crew member passport numbers, guest contact information, Genie+ revenue details, and more.

The complaint states that the plaintiff and class members have no idea what information has been compromised.

[They] remain, even today, in the dark regarding which particular data was stolen, the particular malware used, and what steps are being taken, if any, to secure their [personal information] going forward.

Disney did not respond to the LA Times regarding the lawsuit.
