Four Indiana Jones Movies Removed From Disney+

Four of the five Indiana Jones movies have been removed from the Disney+ streaming service.

Are the Indiana Jones Movies on Disney+?

All five Indiana Jones films were streaming on Disney+ until October 2024. Now, the only movie in the franchise available on Disney’s streaming service is the most recent sequel, “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.”

Users looking to stream all Indiana Jones movies may stumble across misinformation, as the above advertisement still appears on related searches. Clicking through takes users to the page to watch “Dial of Destiny.”

“Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “The Temple of Doom,” “The Last Crusade,” and “The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” are currently available to stream on Paramount+. “Dial of Destiny” is not on Paramount+.

Who Owns Indiana Jones?

Franchise Rights

Disney, through their ownership of Lucasfilm, owns the rights to Indiana Jones. However, “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” was the first film in the franchise produced and distributed by Disney. The first four films were distributed by Paramount Pictures.

The purchase of Lucasfilm by Disney did not negate Paramount’s standing distribution agreement. Disney struck a temporary deal with Paramount to have streaming rights to the first four Indiana Jones films around the release of “Dial of Destiny,” which hit U.S. theaters in June 2023. That deal reportedly reached its end date as of October 1, 2024, meaning the streaming rights returned to Paramount.

Before its release, Harrison Ford confirmed “Dial of Destiny” would be the last Indiana Jones film.

Theme Park Rights

Disney is the only entity that has ever owned the theme park rights to Indiana Jones. Before the buyout, several Disney Parks around the world were already home to Indiana Jones attractions (with a new one on the way).

Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!

The Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular was the first Indiana Jones attraction at a Disney park and features scenes from “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” Located in Echo Lake at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, it demonstrates reenactments of stunts from the franchise’s first film.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril, or Indiana Jones et le Temple du Péril, was the first Indiana Jones ride created by Disney. It opened in 1993 at Disneyland Park in Paris and takes guests on a mine train roller-coaster through a temple.

At Disneyland Park in California, guests can travel alongside Indiana Jones on a mission to rescue tourists lured into an Indian temple by the promise of magical gifts. This dark ride opened in 1995.

Another version of the dark ride opened at Tokyo DisneySea in 2001. Though it uses the same ride track, it is set in Mexico instead of India. It’s unrelated to the “Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” film.

DINOSAUR Becoming Indiana Jones

A person with a torch approaches an ancient, glowing artifact inside a cave. Nearby, people in a vehicle point flashlights towards the artifact. The scene is filled with mystery and ancient symbols, reminiscent of an Indiana Jones adventure through the hidden wonders of the animal kingdom.

DINOSAUR opened as Countdown to Extinction with Disney’s Animal Kingdom in 1998. It uses almost the exact same ride track as Indiana Jones Adventure and Disney announced last year that it would be reimagined into an Indiana Jones attraction as part of Pueblo Esperanza, a Tropical Americas-themed land replacing DinoLand. An exact closing timeframe for DINOSAUR has not been announced but construction of Pueblo Esperanza will begin this fall.

At Disney Springs, guests can enjoy drinks at Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar, inspired by Indy’s pilot friend as seen in “Raiders of the Lost Ark.” The bar features Indiana Jones-inspired appetizers and is packed full of Easter eggs.
