The on-sale announcement was shared on social media with a video featuring Auli’i Cravalho (Moana), Dwayne Johnson (Maui), and an appearance from Hei Hei (Alan Tudyk).

Tickets for showings at your local theater can be purchased now through Fandango. The film releases on November 27, 2024. Regal Cinemas recently shared the collectibles that fans can purchase when seeing the movie.

In the new film, which takes place three years after the events of the 2016 movie, Moana and Maui reunite after the former receives an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors. The pair then set out on a journey to the far seas of Oceania, and “into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.”

The movie is directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller; and produced by Christina Chen and Yvett Merino. It also features new music by Grammy winners Abigal Barlow and Emily Bear of Barlow & Bear, as well as Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa’i, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina.

The movie was previously planned to be a television series for Disney+, but was surprised announced as a feature film earlier this year.

A separate live-action reimagining of the animated film is also in the works. Johnson will return as Maui, but Cravalho will pass the torch of the titular role on to 17-year-old Catherine Laga’aia, instead taking the role of Executive Producer. The live-action “Moana” will be directed by Tony Award-winner Thomas Kail, director of “Hamilton.”
