Disney has removed an untitled “Star Wars” movie from their calendar and replaced it with “Ice Age 6.”
The untitled “Star Wars” flick was scheduled for release on December 18, 2026. Disney announced at D23 Brazil this month that “Ice Age 6” was in production. It will be released on December 18, 2026, instead.
An untitled “Star Wars” film is still scheduled for release on December 17, 2027.
We don’t know what “Star Wars” film would have been released in 2026 or what might be released in 2017. There are several “Star Wars” projects in the works, including films that have been in flux for years. “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” director Rian Johnson has been attached to create another trilogy since 2017. Taika Waititi has been developing a film that he would also star in. Patty Jenkins is developing a “Rogue Squadron” film.
It was recently announced Simon Kinberg is developing a new “Star Wars” trilogy. James Mangold is working on a film about the dawn of the Jedi. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is directing a movie featuring Daisy Ridley returning as Rey, set 15 years after “The Rise of Skywalker.” Donald Glover is working on a “Lando” film.
An animated film called “A Droid Story” featuring R2-D2 and C-3PO is in the works for Disney+. “Deadpool & Wolverine” director Shawn Levy has also reportedly been in talks to direct a “Star Wars” film.
The next “Star Wars” project to air will be Disney+ series “Skeleton Crew.” “The Mandalorian & Grogu” will be the first “Star Wars” film since “The Rise of Skywalker” (2019), scheduled for release on May 22, 2026.
