A new mystery structure has been added near the Haunted Mansion at Disneyland Park, as work on its expanded grounds and carriage shop continues.
Haunted Mansion Carriage House Shop Construction
In our previous update, metal framework was erected for the Haunted Mansion carriage house shop. Boards have been added on top of that framework to start building the walls. There is still work being done on the roof to finish boarding up the building.
Here is a closer look at the carriage house shop construction. We can also spot some rounded framework, possibly for more windows. There are diamond-shaped windows on the front of the structure that have been boarded up for the time being.
A large window will eventually sit at the front center of the gable roof. Looking back at concept art, you can see that the front of the shop will have two open entrances.
Haunted Mansion Queue Construction
A mystery new cinderblock building is now on the top of the hill in the expanded queue area. This looks to be approximately the same space that was used to bypass the Stretching Room during the pandemic.
The cinderblock building has some exterior metal framework, likely for its facade. There are three half circles above three columns in the wall, giving it almost a mausoleum-esque look. There is also some orange scrim covering the metal framing for the roof.
It’s possible this could potentially be the new home of the ADA entrance to the attraction. Rumors suggest Disneyland is adding two elevators so that ADA guests don’t have to take the Stretching Room back up to board the attraction.
Further details of this new Haunted Mansion carriage house shop have not been released, but the original announcement stated that the shop and expanded queue would open sometime this year. Of course, the timing can always change.
The Haunted Mansion is currently open to guests via virtual queue as Haunted Mansion Holiday while the grounds expansion construction continues. The ride initially closed in January 2024 to begin construction on the new queue and shop.
The regular version of the attraction will likely return in January 2025. Rumors suggest that the hanging corpse in the Stretching Room scene may not return, along with other changes.
