Disney has posted a casting call for the new Disney Villains stage show coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Disney Villains Stage Show Casting Call
Available on the Disney Auditions website, the casting call is seeking actors to portray Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent. The same characters were teased in the show’s announcement and the casting call reinforces that the trio will likely be the main villains featured, although “dozens” will appear. Concept art includes Jafar, the Queen of Hearts, Scar, Ursula, Yzma, and Hades.
The creative minds at Disney Live Entertainment will transform Sunset Showcase into the mysterious, reflective realm of the Magic Mirror. The show will feature appearances by dozens of the most infamous evildoers, with fiendish foes Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook, and Maleficent each breaking through the glass to take the stage in live production numbers.
Here are the descriptions of Cruella, Hook, and Maleficent from the casting call:
“Cruella de Vil- Female Identifying Performer. 5’7-5’9. Cruella de Vil, as portrayed in the animated classic, is an eccentric socialite who loves showing off her fashion sense. She longs to surround herself with the finer things in life and will stop at nothing to get her way. This dramatic and devious Villian is as vain as she is persistent. Basic Vocal and Musicality Skills Preferred.“
“Captain Hook- Male Identifying Performer. 5’11 to 6’3. Captain Hook, as portrayed in the animated classic, is determined to get revenge on the boy who robbed him of his hand. As the most infamous pirate of Never Land, Hook holds himself with an air of dignity and pride. This dignified and devious villain is equal parts vengeful and cowardly. Vocalist and Musical Theatre Movement Skills Required.“
“Maleficent- Female Identifying Performer. 5’10 to 6’1. As portrayed in the animated classic, Maleficent (muh-LEFF-uh-sint), mistress of evil, prides herself on being the epitome of villainy. With her powerful magic and vengeful demeanor, Maleficent will do anything to ensure her will is carried out. Basic Vocal and Musicality Skills Preferred.“
Online submissions for the roles are due by 11:30 p.m. on Friday, November 15. Potential in-person callbacks will be held in New York on January 15, Orlando on January 21, and Atlanta on January 26. The show is scheduled to premiere in the summer of 2025.
It replaces Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy at Sunset Showcase. After a five-year run, the “Cars” show closed permanently in October, soon after Disney filed construction permits for the Disney Villains show. Years ago, Sunset Showcase hosted Club Villain, a ticketed event featuring Dr. Facilier and other Disney Villains.
