Disney World Adds Signs for How to Gesture to Fab 50 Interactive Statues, Guests No Longer Advised to Wave

Walt Disney World has added new signs instructing guests on how to gesture to the Fab 50 statues found throughout the resort, and no longer advises “waving” at the statues to interact with them.

Disney Adds MagicBand+ Signs to Fab 50 Statues

Gold Fab 50 statues of Pluto and Goofy stand among red flowers at a theme park. Visitors walk in the background near a castle.

We first spotted these signs in Magic Kingdom. They can be found next to the Fab 50 statues throughout the park.

Sign in a garden of red flowers instructing to make a circular gesture with a MagicBand+ to experience magic.

The signs read,

MagicBand+

Make a circular gesture with your MagicBand+ to experience the magic.

A graphic of a guest making a circle while wearing their MagicBand+ is at the top of the sign. A QR code can be found at the bottom of the sign, which takes you to the Disney Fab 50 Quest on the My Disney Experience app when scanned.

Previously, guests were encouraged to wave in front of the statues to activate the sound effects related to each statue.

We also spotted these signs in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

These statues were installed as part of the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World. In addition to their standard effects, Halloween and holiday greetings were later added in 2022. In 2023, Walt Disney World announced that the statues would remain after the end of the 50th anniversary celebration, and by the year’s end, the “50” medallions were removed from all of the statues.
