The Oriental Land Co., Ltd. has signed a new partnership agreement in the lead-up to launching its own Disney Cruise Line ship in Japan, confirming a target year for the ship’s debut.
Oriental Land Co. Cruise Business Agreement for Disney Cruise Line Ship in Japan
This new agreement was signed with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, in the hopes of developing a cruise business based out of Japan. As part of the agreement, Tokyo Port will be the primary departure and arrival point for OLC’s cruise business.
This agreement also includes the update that OLC plans to begin building the new Disney Cruise Line ship in fiscal year 2025, with the goal of launching the ship in fiscal year 2028.
The ship was first announced earlier this summer, and will be among the Disney Wish class of ships (joining the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny). The Disney Wish launched in 2022 and the Disney Treasure launches on December 21, 2024, from Port Canaveral. Disney Destiny will launch in November 2025.
This will mark the first time a Disney cruise ship is owned and operated by an organization other than The Walt Disney Company.
