Mattel accidentally printed the URL of a porn site on the packaging for their “Wicked” dolls.
Wicked Dolls Website Error
We previously reported on the Wicked dolls, along with other film merchandise, being available at Universal Orlando Resort. The misprint was discovered this past weekend and quickly went viral. The incorrect URL is found near the barcodes on the doll boxes. Some of the Universal price stickers partially covered the website.
The printed URL is wicked.com, which leads to a webpage for the pornographic production company Wicked Pictures. It prompts visitors to confirm they are over 18 before they can view any content. Wicked Pictures has owned the URL since 1994.
The real URL for the “Wicked” film is WickedMovie.com while the stage musical is at WickedTheMusical.com.
After the mistake was discovered, Mattel released the following statement:
Mattel was made aware of a misprint on the packaging of the Mattel Wicked collection dolls, primarily sold in the U.S., which intended to direct consumers to the official WickedMovie.com landing page. We deeply regret this unfortunate error and are taking immediate action to remedy this. Parents are advised that the misprinted, incorrect website is not appropriate for children. Consumers who already have the product are advised to discard the product packaging or obscure the link and may contact Mattel Customer Service for further information.

Mattel is pulling the Wicked dolls from various retailers. They are no longer available to purchase from Target. Universal Orlando may pull the dolls from shelves, too.
