Disney’s Hollywood Studios has new “Star Wars” merchandise in honor of Life Day on November 17, 2024. The winter holiday is a Wookiee tradition first introduced in “The Star Wars Holiday Special.” The new merchandise isn’t Life Day-themed — a Life Day pin and hoodie were already released — but would make great holiday gifts.
Commander Gree Helmet – $99.99
Gree was a clone commander in the 41st Legion. He was named after the Gree species — not the color green without an “n,” although his helmet features green paint scuffed from battles. The visor is shiny green and the helmet has a shiny silver finish.
Gree was with Yoda on the Wookiee planet of Kashyyyk at the end of the Clone Wars when Order 66 was issued. Unfortunately, Gree was forced to comply with the order and attempted to kill Yoda, but the Jedi Master killed him.
The helmet has voice-changing features and sound effects. It’s recommended for ages 8+.
Gree and Yoda Action Figures – $49.99
This set includes action figures of Yoda and Gree. Gree is in his traditional white trooper armor with green accents. He comes with two blaster rifles. Yoda comes with a replaceable angry face, his staff, his green lightsaber, and his Jedi Council chair.
The back of the box reads:
Yoda & Clone Commander Gree
Small in size but wise and powerful, Jedi Master Yoda played an integral role in the Clone Wars — including briefly commanding a sub-unit of the 41st Elite Corps on Kashyyyk. Clone Commander Gree, designation 1004, assisted Yoda as second in command until Order 66 was enacted.
Secrets of the Holocron Set – $350
The new Secrets of the Holocron set includes 15 Kyber Crystal capsules, a Jedi Holocron, and a Sith Holocron. They come in a black box featuring red and blue designs representing the Sith and Jedi. As indicated by a certificate in the lid of the box, it has a limited edition size of 3,000.
Kyber Crystal capsules are usually sold individually at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. They’re used to change the sound and colors of Holocrons and lightsabers made at Savi’s Workshop. This box includes the following crystal colors:
- 2 White
- 4 Red
- 1 Black
- 2 Green
- 2 Blue
- 2 Purple
- 2 Yellow
The black Kyber Crystal is typically a “chase” variant sometimes found in red capsules. When placed in a lightsaber, it turns the blade red. When placed in a Jedi or Sith Holocron, it triggers dialogue by Supreme Leader Snoke.
During the first wave of Kyber Crystals released with the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, black crystals could be found before purchasing by shining a light through the capsule. When the second wave of crystals was released, light could no longer pass through the capsule, making black crystals harder to discover.
The other crystals trigger their respective colors and lines by various Force-wielding characters, like Yoda, Ahsoka Tano, Darth Vader, and Rey.
Limited Edition The Ren Legacy Lightsaber Set – $325
This lightsaber hilt is silver with yellow-gold elements, including spikes around the emitter. It illuminates red when a lightsaber blade, sold separately, is attached.
The saber is dubbed the Ren, not to be confused with Kylo Ren the person, although those who wielded the blade were called Ren and led the Knights of Ren.
It comes in a box featuring a black, red, and gray design. In the center is the Knights of Ren crest resembling red cracks. The box has a pair of sliding doors with two latches. In addition to the hilt, the set includes a “Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren #1” comic book with a variant cover and a certificate of authenticity. It has a limited edition size of 5,000.
Gungi Lightsaber Hilt – $160
This lightsaber hilt is inspired by the weapon wielded by Gungi, a Wookiee Jedi Padawan who appears in “Star Wars: The Clone Wars” and “Star Wars: The Bad Batch.” Instead of metal, the hilt is made of brown wood with silver metal decorations around the emitter and end cap. It will illuminate a blade green.
Helmet of the Ren – $80
This helmet has a shiny finish with black matte elements on the crown and around the chin. On the face are the red cracks representing the Knights of Ren. Such a helmet was worn by the leader of the Knights.
The shiny surface has two-way mirrored viewing. It includes a black display stand with the Knights of Ren crest. The box reads:
A masked, scarred warrier who calls himself Ren commands the ranks of the Knights of Ren and plays a pivotal role in Ben Solo’s rebirth as the dark side disciple Kylo Ren, prior to the Battle of the Starkiller Base. Yet Ren claims he doesn’t owe allegiance to anyone, not even Supreme Leader Snoke. Ren preaches an ideology of self-centerdness, believing his red-bladed lightsaber — the Ren — acts as a beacon.
The Commander Gree Helmet and action figure set were in Tatooine Traders. Everything else was at Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities.
