Universal Orlando Resort guests can purchase a real book version of “The Tale of Earl the Squirrel” after stepping into the story at the Holiday Tribute Store.
The Tale of Earl the Squirrel Book – $15
The Holiday Tribute Store takes guests through various storybooks, culminating in “The Tale of Earl the Squirrel.” Giant book pages make up the displays and walls. These are recreated in the real book.
The Earl the Squirrel book cover depicts Earl the Squirrel in his red hat and green sweater gesturing at a Christmas Tree. According to Universal legend, Earl was a real squirrel who made his home in the Universal Studios Florida Christmas tree. He was discovered after biting through a string of lights.
The squirrel is now honored with a squirrel figure hidden in the Christmas tree every year. Earl has become the mascot of the holidays at Universal Orlando Resort, with his own meet and greet.
There was a signing in the Tribute Store with the author, editor, and illustrator.
The book is set up like a classic children’s book, with a spot on the inner cover to write your name.
It tells the story of how Earl ended up inside the park’s Christmas tree and became the icon we know today.
