If box office numbers are any indication, Disney is back on top in Hollywood, after adding up the numbers, including revenue from its 20th Century Studios and Searchlight business units.
This marks the second time since 2019 Disney has broken the $2B barrier.
Pixar’s Inside Out 2 has made a significant mark at the box office, ranking as the 11th highest-grossing film of all time in the U.S. and securing the spot as the top-grossing animated movie domestically. The film was an immediate hit with audiences, scoring the second-largest opening weekend ever for an animated film.
Meanwhile, Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated Deadpool & Wolverine ranks as the second highest-grossing movie of 2024 and holds the 12th position overall in U.S. earnings.
Another notable performer is Moana 2, which currently ranks as the fifth highest-grossing movie in 2024, despite a somewhat negative fan reaction to the film.
Not far behind, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and Alien: Romulus—both films produced under Disney’s 20th Century label—have also achieved impressive domestic totals. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes has grossed $171 million, while Alien: Romulus has earned $105 million.
