Guests visiting Magic Kingdom this morning will find that The Magic Carpets of Aladdin is temporarily closed, with multiple maintenance Cast Members on site.
Unexpected Maintenance on The Magic Carpets of Aladdin
We noticed maintenance crews on site this morning after Adventureland opened late to guests, around 9:30 a.m. EST. Cast Members entirely blocked off the land to discourage guests from passing through, and multiple rides in Adventureland and Frontierland opened late.
We saw a total of eight maintenance Cast Members at work on one of the carpets. One of the mechanical arms, and thus its carpet ride vehicle, was lifted up into the air, presumably to give Cast Members a better look at the workings beneath it.
It is unclear when the ride will return to normal operation. Other attractions in the land are operating as normal as of 10:19 a.m.
The ride is listed as “Temporarily Closed” on My Disney Experience, though it does have scheduled operating hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and then 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party tonight on the Walt Disney World website.
It is clear that this downtime and maintenance was unplanned, and could have contributed to the delayed opening of Adventureland this morning. Of course, this is purely speculation and Disney has not confirmed this was the case.
UPDATE – 3:57 p.m. EST: At this time, The Magic Carpets of Aladdin has reopened at Magic Kingdom, and currently stands at a 5 minute standby wait.
