Crews installed the framework for Test Track’s new entrance awning at EPCOT.
Test Track Construction
Vertical supports for the new structure went up earlier this week. Now a horizontal framework connects most of the supports, creating a rectangular awning over the entrance area.
There is scaffolding behind the awning, directly in front of the entrance doors, and tarps protect the exterior of the outdoor track. Several crew members were on-site Friday morning when we rode the Monorail past.
This concept art shows what the new overhang will look like. The attraction is also getting a new sign, with the old one completely removed last month. Although the concept art says “Presented by Chevrolet,” the ride will revert to their General Motors sponsorship.
Crews used a construction vehicle to place more beams in the awning’s structure.
Scaffolding has come down from the Test Track SIMporium entrance. A long pink tarp hangs from the exterior track over the entrance doors.
The reimagined attraction will open in late summer 2025 after over a year of construction. Test Track 3.0 will draw inspiration from World of Motion, the ride Test Track replaced in 1999. It will celebrate the history of transportation advancements. The queue will feature exhibits dedicated to the vehicles and people who helped push those advancements.
