Avengers Reserve at Downtown Disney District soft opened on Wednesday, December 4, before a planned grand opening on Friday, December 6. The new store is part of the district’s ongoing reimagining.
Avengers Reserve
Avengers Reserve is located next to the new D-Lander Shop, near the Downtown Disney LIVE! Stage. The facade features a life-size Spider-Man figure hanging on by a web. He’s balanced on a sign featuring the Avengers logo.
On the left side of the entrance is a nine-foot Incredible Hulk sculpture. He appears to be bursting through the wall of the store, with broken concrete around him.
Lights are built into the broken blocks to illuminate the Hulk at night.
The façade is made up of white circles, with some colored in to create hidden Mickeys. We spotted one hidden Minnie with a colored bow.
On the right side of the façade are tiny figures of Ant-Man and the Wasp hanging out on one of the circles.
The windows display some of the Marvel merchandise available inside. We mostly spotted merchandise that had previously been available at Avengers Campus.
Inside, the store features hexagon shapes and logo projections. Framed posters hanging from the ceiling feature comic book and film art of various Marvel characters.
Sitting atop a lighting rig to the left are life-size figures of Rocket and Baby Groot. A projection of the Guardians of the Galaxy crest is behind them.
A figure of Captain Marvel is suspended from the ceiling near the entrance.
Spider-Woman (Gwen Stacy) is on another lighting rig near the back left corner.
A screen on the right wall shows trailers for the latest Marvel content. It was showing an “Agatha All Along” trailer when we visited.
The merchandise is mostly organized by character or team. There are sections dedicated to classic comics merchandise and Avengers merchandise. Other sections feature Scarlet Witch, Captain America, Spider-Man, Black Panther, Spider-Woman, Deadpool & Wolverine, and Guardians of the Galaxy merchandise.
There are new inflatable toys inspired by the Hulk’s fist, Captain America’s shield, and Mjolnir (Thor’s hammer).
Near the front entrance is a gaming area.
There are two screens, each with a PlayStation 5 controller on a podium, so guests to try out different Marvel games.
On the upper walls throughout the store are hexagonal display cases. Inside are real Marvel Cinematic Universe props including a Captain America shield, Captain Carter shield, Deadpool and Wolverine masks, Loki’s scepter and helmet, and Mjolnir.
For the holiday season, there is a Christmas tree made of comic book pages in the front window.
