Disney Vacation Club has introduced a new penthouse accommodation style with the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows.
Penthouse Suite
About
There are two penthouse options, both of which are two-bedroom. One is the Preferred View which has views of the pool or fairway and starts at 86 points per night.
The other option is Theme Park View, which looks over Magic Kingdom and the Seven Seas Lagoon. It starts at 108 points per night.
The penthouses sleep up to eight guests and one infant (ages 0-2). They are 1,448 square feet.
Living Area – Queen-sized Pull-down Bed
In the living area is a sand-colored L-shaped couch. Above it are shelves with artwork and the Hey Disney voice assistant. In front of the couch is a circular marble-top table and two blue stools. The sides of the stools and tables all feature a geometric Polynesian-style design.
The painting on the unit above the couch shows the sun rising between mountains above a bay. Turtles and various types of fish swim in the ocean. Palm Trees and coral frame the image. The handles to either side of the painting are to pull down the queen size bed.
There is a light above the bed unit and three light fixtures hanging from the ceiling. The living space also has two chairs and floor-to-ceiling windows. A curtain can be drawn across the windows.
The living space has a rug with green and blue ocean-inspired designs. The seats face a TV in a double-sided unit with a white marble top and cabinets below.
Another TV is on the opposite side of the unit, facing the kitchen and dining area.
Kitchen
The dining area has wood flooring. There is a long wood-top table with four chairs and a bench seat along the wall. Similar lighting fixtures to those in the living room hang above the table.
The chairs have yellow upholstery. The padded back of the bench has a blue and green pattern. The manta ray sculpture Disney previously shared details about hangs on the wall above the bench.
Inspired by Gramma Tala from “Moana,” the sculpture features Polynesian designs and hidden references. There is an upside-down hidden Mickey, Maui’s hook, a sea turtle, shark teeth, spearhead shapes, and more. All together, the design represents family, hence why it’s hanging above the dining table.
A small tray is on the table with a display succulent.
The kitchen has light brown cabinets, a dark backsplash, and a white marble counter top. Appliances include a full-size fridge, oven and stovetop, toaster, microwave, dishwasher, and Keurig coffee maker.
A selection of kitchen supplies is available in the cabinets. There are some coffee options next to the coffee maker.
Bedroom 1 – King Bed
The first bedroom, featuring a king bed, is off the kitchen. It has a large wicker-style lighting fixture hanging above the foot of the bed. The textured carpet resembles overlapping fern leaves or coral.
The sheets are white with pinstripes and the pillowcases are solid white. The bed is raised so there is storage space underneath. It has a padded sand-colored headboard. Above the headboard is an illuminated mural of sailboats with jumping dolphins and flying birds. Lights with wicker shades hang over the nightstands, which each have drawers. There are reading lights and outlets on the headboard on both sides.
The bed faces another TV, mounted on a gray textured wall panel. It hangs above a dresser with wicker-style drawers next to a wicker-style wardrobe.
A mirror in a black oblong frame is on the wall next to the door. The bathroom has a sliding barn door.
On the opposite end of the room are sliding glass doors leading to the balcony. The curtains feature Polynesian-style designs.
The en-suite bathroom has a tub, a separate shower, and two vanities. The marble square-shaped tub has black fixtures.
A ceiling light illuminates the sculpture hanging above the tub. The flower-shaped piece features different carvings on each petal: sea turtles, islands, waves, fish, a volcano, and sailboats. It’s set against a rocky accent wall.
The vanities are on either side of the door. Each has an oblong mirror with border lights that hangs above a green tile wall. The counters are white marble, each with one sink.
A black adjustable mirror is mounted on the wall next to each sink. There are washcloths, tissues, and face soap.
The shower room is behind a swinging glass door. A stripe of sand-colored rock leads down the opposite wall to matching flooring. It has a marble bench on the right.
There is a detachable shower head and a waterfall shower head. Mounted shower products are across from the bench. A cubby for setting other products is above the bench.
The toilet is behind the frosted glass door on the other side of the tub.
Bedroom 2 – Two Queen Beds
The second bedroom is on the opposite side of the penthouse. These queen beds feature the same linens as the king bed. Most of the room has hardwood flooring but there’s carpeting under the beds.
A closet is between the bedroom door and the en suite bathroom door. More wicker-style lights hang above the end tables. Like the first bedroom, these beds have a padded headboard with built-in light controls.
Above the beds is a geometrical design of triangles rather than a mural.
Across from the beds is a textured gray wall with a mounted TV. There are built-in shelves with a seashell on display.
There is a desk lamp on the marble countertop. A blue stool like those in the living room tucks under the desk. The unit has a built-in dresser under the TV. Next to the dresser is a bench with cubbies for shoes.
The carpeting resembles green leaves.
This en suite bathroom has a marble top vanity with two overlapping illuminated mirrors set against a green tile wall. This vanity has one sink. The bathroom also has a water closet and walk-in shower.
Bathroom 3
A third bathroom is off the kitchen space. It has a small vanity with one sink. It has a hexagon-shaped mirror on the wall above it. Between the sink and shower is the toilet.
The walk-in shower has a sliding glass door, detachable shower head, and waterfall shower head. The shower walls are black, with a leaf pattern across the back wall.
Balcony
The penthouse features three balconies, one off each bedroom and one off the living space. They each have chairs and small tables. The railings have Plexiglass panels across them. We visited a penthouse with a Seven Seas Lagoon view. We could also see some of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and Magic Kingdom in the distance.

Real nice to see that Disney is leaving out the “Disney” touch or attributes in their hotel designs. With small exception to the Moana logo in the primary painting nobody would know this is a WDW property.
If you’re going to pay that much to stay on property, one would expect Disney theme.
Our fav is Port Orleans French Quarter. The new renovations might as well be a room in hotel in the US.
