The Swiss Family Treehouse closed on November 18, 2024, for a planned 1-month-long refurbishment. Today, it is still closed despite Disney’s expected reopening date of December 20.
Swiss Family Treehouse Construction
Green scrim is still prominently set up around the tree, blocking a significant portion of the lower levels from guest view.
A rope blocks off the entrance and a wooden sign has a note from Franz Robinson:
Soon, we will invite you to visit this house, which has given our family comfort, solace and protection from the untamed wilderness.
The wooden bridge is uncovered but the green scrim is visible behind it.
Scaffolding is still constructed at the end of the bridge on one side of the tree.
A barrier with the same Franz Robinson quote sign blocks the exit of the attraction.
More scrim is on the other side of the scaffolding, visible from a stroller parking area.
With visible scrim and scaffolding still up around the tree, it is unclear how delayed the reopening will be, though Cast Members told us that it would welcome guests again soon.
Swiss Family Treehouse first opened at Disneyland Park in 1962, later coming to Magic Kingdom as an opening day attraction in 1971. The attraction was re-themed to Tarzan’s Treehouse at Disneyland in 1999 and later to The Adventureland Treehouse Inspired by Walt Disney’s “Swiss Family Robinson” in 2023. It still operates as the original Swiss Family Treehouse at Disneyland Paris and Tokyo Disneyland. Hong Kong Disneyland still operates the attraction as Tarzan’s Treehouse.
