Universal Orlando Resort Selling Recalled Wicked Dolls With Marker Covering Adult Website Link

Andrew Iovino

Mattel previously recalled a line of dolls for the new “Wicked” movie in November after learning that the URL on the packaging accidentally lead to a porn website. The dolls have since returned to Universal Orlando Resort with the same packaging, but the website has been covered with a black marker and price stickers.

The back of a toy box features multilingual safety instructions, recycling icons, and a price tag reading $60.00. This "Wicked Dolls" edition brings an eerie charm reminiscent of Universal Orlando Resort's thrilling attractions.

The dolls, featuring characters from the hit film, are packaged in boxes with a link intended to lead to the official movie website, WickedMovie.com. However, the boxes were instead printed with a link for Wicked.com, the website for the pornographic production company Wicked Pictures. Mattel is currently facing a $5 million class-action lawsuit for the error.

Two Moana dolls in colorful packaging are displayed on a store shelf, reminiscent of the vibrant attractions at Universal Orlando Resort. A dress is visible in the background.

The dolls have strangely reappeared in Universal Orlando Resort. We spotted them at the Universal Studios Store in Universal CityWalk and Wicked: The Experience. Despite the recall requesting all products be returned to the manufacturer, these dolls are back on shelves in the original packaging. However, the link has been blocked out with a black marker and store-specific price stickers cover them partially.

The back of the product box features recycling symbols, instructions in multiple languages, a barcode, and a $60.00 price tag. Please note: This product is part of the recalled Wicked Dolls collection.

We contacted Mattel customer support to ask if the dolls are available anywhere else for purchase. The representative informed us that the dolls are currently pulled from store shelves and online retailers and are unavailable for purchase at this time but “corrective action is being taken” on the “packaging error.” When asked why Universal Orlando Resort was still selling them, the representative said that some retailers may still carry them, but the products are not intended for current sale.
