Donkey Kong Country opened at Universal Studios Japan this week and guests can now ride Mine-Cart Madness. The new coaster emulates a Donkey Kong video game, with guests riding mine carts that appear to jump tracks.
Mine-Cart Madness
Guests enter Mine-Cart Madness through an overgrown temple. They board a train of mine carts and pass Dixie Kong before going up a lift hill. They’re then “shot” out of a giant barrel. Riders zip around outdoors, “jumping” broken gaps in the track and getting splashed with water, before returning to the temple.
The height requirement is 122 cm or 48 inches.
Take a look at the queue and some ride POV footage in the video below.
Donkey Kong Country
In Donkey Kong Country at Universal Studios Japan, guests can meet Donkey Kong, enjoy a meal at Jungle Beat Shakes, and purchase merchandise at Funky’s Fly ‘n’ Buy. New Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong Power-Up Bands are available.
To currently enter Donkey Kong Country, guests need an Advance Booking, Area Timed Entry, or Standby Entry ticket. Read details about ticket options.
The land is an expansion of Super Nintendo World, which opened at Universal Studios Japan in early 2021 as just the Mushroom Kingdom, now dubbed Super Mario Land. The second Super Nintendo World opened at Universal Studios Hollywood in 2023. The Hollywood land will not include Donkey Kong Country due to space constraints. But when Epic Universe opens at Universal Orlando Resort in 2025, it will include Super Nintendo World with both Super Mario Land and Donkey Kong Country.
