The AI artwork in Disneyland’s new Haunted Mansion gift shop — Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond — has officially been replaced.
New Oracle Card Artwork
In the AI piece’s place is a new framed piece featuring several cards depicting various people and things. They aren’t tarot cards but appear to be some kind of oracle cards. They could be used by a medium like Madame Leota to predict the future or communicate with spirits.
The cards are labeled the Medium, the Portrait, the Widow, the Bell, and the Key. A card in the center reads:
Shades and Spirits
Kind or Fell
Sent from Heaven
Or from Hell
Go We Bid Thee
Time is Nigh
Leave in Peace and Say
Good Bye!
The incantation suggests these cards are used as a guide to ward off ghosts.
Cards ostensibly from the same deck were already framed throughout the store, displayed among Leota’s other mystic items, so the new piece matches the pre-existing props.
The AI “art” from Redbubble was identified within days of the shop’s opening. Disney removed the piece after viral criticism but initially left the space atop a display empty.
Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond is designed to resemble an old carriage house that supposedly once belonged to the Haunted Mansion’s resident psychic. It sells Haunted Mansion and “The Nightmare Before Christmas” merchandise.
The Haunted Mansion is currently closed for the changeover from Haunted Mansion Holiday to the standard version of the ride, which hasn’t been open for over a year due to work on its outdoor queue. When the ride reopens, it will have a new Bride character, teased by (non-AI) art in Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond and confirmed by a new sipper coming to Disneyland this week.
