Construction work is underway on the former dolphin tank in The Seas Pavilion at EPCOT.

The trio of male dolphins that previously lived at The Seas moved to Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park in Fort Walton Beach last October. Disney said the decision was made “after a comprehensive evaluation as to what is best for these dolphins as infrastructure work progresses at the seas.”

That infrastructure work has begun, with tarps up on the left side of the former dolphin tank.

We could hear a crew member using power tools on the other side of the tank. A diver was also working above the tunnel that separates the tanks. We don’t yet know the specifics of the tank updates or what new creatures could eventually be housed there.

Lou the manatee was also relocated from The Seas last year and replaced by Inigo.

The Seas With Nemo & Friends is a pavilion in the World Nature neighborhood. The pavilion originally opened in 1986 as The Living Seas. It closed in 2005 and reopened in 2007 with the “Finding Nemo” update. The EPCOT reimagining brought back the Living Seas logo for the pavilion. Recent updates to the pavilion include a refurbishment of the nurseryrestored special effects, and a façade refurbishment.
