In December we reported that the Astro Orbiter at Magic Kingdom closed for refurbishment on January 13, 2025, and is scheduled to reopen in the summer of 2025.

The construction walls extend out into the walkway between the Peoplemover and Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin.

From the Peoplemover we had a better view over the construction walls where the crane is located. The Lunching Pad dining location to the left of the wall is still operating during this time.

As we moved closer to the area we noticed orange safety cones on the ground behind the walls. Cinderblocks and wood slats sit in front of the safety cones. Yellow scaffolding is also visible.

Another angle further along the track provides more visibility of the scaffolding and additional cinder blocks below. Ladders are leaned up against cinder blocks behind the construction walls, and a wooden pallet and trash bin can be seen along the far wall.

More cinderblocks and wooden slats provide support for the walls on the right side of the crane.

The elevators that usually take guests up to the loading area of the attraction are currently blocked off with walls and a door with a locked gate.

The elevator control boxes have also been covered.
