During our latest visit to EPCOT, we noticed the Biotechnology Lab seen from the Living with the Land ride has new been blocked from guests’ view.

Living with the Land is a slow-moving boat ride educating guests about the importance of sustainable agriculture. In addition to some indoor scenes, the boats take guests through the operational greenhouses at the back of the pavilion. Recently, the waterfall effect was restored to the indoor rainforest scene.

Nestled in EPCOT, the indoor biotechnology lab features expansive glass windows emitting a pink glow. Surrounded by lush plants and adjacent to a serene water path, it invites you to explore the wonders of "Living with the Land" just beside its welcoming entrance sign.

During the second greenhouse section following the aqua cell area, guests normally have an opportunity to look inside a real Biotechnology Lab in the building. The lab has recently been colored bright pink due to some lights installed by the shelves.

A Biotechnology Lab with large windows, illuminated by bright pink lights, showcases shelves, tables, and equipment inside. It captures the innovative essence of EPCOT’s vision for Living with the Land.

Inside, guests can see some of the many experiments scientists are running on the plants in the building. The type of experiment often changes depending on the time of year. Guests can sometimes spot special Hidden Mickeys placed in the windows by Cast Members.

In front of a greenhouse at EPCOT, a Biotechnology Lab sign featuring the USDA logo stands proudly amidst plants and a leaf-patterned circle, showcasing the spirit of "Living with the Land.

However, during our most recent ride-through, the window looking into the lab has now been blocked by a black scrim. Two white panels have been placed in front, along with some potted plants and a green Land Pavilion icon. The sign for the lab is still visible on the right of the window. We currently have no information on why the lab was blocked off, or when it will be visible once more.

If you want to watch a recent video of Living with the Land showing the lab, you can watch our full POV ride video from the 2024 EPCOT International Food and Wine Festival overlay below.
