Waterfall Returns to Living with the Land After More Than Four Months

Over four months have passed since the waterfall effect found in the rainforest scene of Living with the Land was operational, but the waterfall has now been restored. Plus, the heat effect has also returned to the desert scene.

Living with the Land

Amidst the rocky terrain, a soft waterfall creates a captivating waterfall effect among illuminated plants, evoking the essence of a rainforest set against a dark background.

We last saw the rainforest waterfall six months ago, when we filmed our Full Nighttime Ride POV video of the attraction. Now, water once again flows down from the ‘rainfall’ to form a small underground flow on the right side.

A tree with prominent roots is illuminated by lights in a dark, rocky environment, evoking the mystique of a rainforest.

The additional stream of water running underneath the tree roots has also returned. The narration for the scene, which describes how trees and plants gather nutrients from groundwater, now makes more sense with the waterfall restored.

A rainforest scene with illuminated tree roots, rocks, and foliage. Soft lighting highlights the greenery and creates a mystical atmosphere in a dark environment, reminiscent of Living with the Land.

When we filmed the attraction in September for the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival decorations, the waterfall was no longer present. The picture above shows the scene without the water effect operating.

A dimly lit desert scene with rock formations and a glowing horizon, reminiscent of the enchanting transition from a Rainforest to arid landscapes.

Additionally, the warm air effect has also been restored to the desert scene of the attraction. Previously, when guests transitioned from the rainforest to the desert, a vent placed in the tunnel would blow warmed air toward guests. This effect has also not been in operation for at least the past few months.

The entrance to the "Living with the Land" boat ride at EPCOT features a sign above a queue area where people are standing in line.

These changes follow even more previous updates to Living with the Land. In June 2024, the brush fire scene and lightning effects behind the buffalo were restored after a long period of being broken. The lights during the rainforest scene were also changed back in April 2024. It’s nice to see this beloved attraction get some additional care and maintenance.

Watch our 4K Ride POV video from July 2024, which includes the rainforest waterfall in operation.
