The planets and rocket ship vehicles typically attached to the structure of the Astro Orbiter have been removed as refurbishment continues.

During the ride, the rocket vehicles would “blast off” into the air and guests would begin orbiting a galaxy of planets.

The planets have since been removed from the metal structure. The framework shows where some of the missing planets were. This piece of framework had a larger yellow and orange planet with smaller ones that branched off of other frameworks underneath.

This circular structure previously housed a blue and white planet with other smaller ones branching off a framework attached to the top of it.

The metal sphere-like globe which housed smaller yellow and red planets has also been removed.

Looking at the Astro Orbiter from the base of the attraction’s elevators, we can see yet another piece of framework on the left missing its multi-colored planet.

The rocket ship vehicles have been removed as well. The center structure typically has arms that attach to the structure which hold the rockets but those are now gone.

The Astro Orbiter closed for refurbishment on January 13, 2025, and is scheduled to reopen in the summer of 2025.
