After a nearly nine-month-long closure, Pteranodon Flyers at Universal Islands of Adventure is testing and will be reopening soon.

Pteranodon Flyers

Theme park sign for "Pteranodon Flyers" ride, stating it's an 80-second gliding attraction for children between 36-56 inches tall. Sign indicates the ride is currently closed.

This attraction is in the Jurassic Park section of Universal Islands of Adventure. It’s known for having a height maximum — guests over 56 inches can only ride if they are accompanying a child between 36 and 56 inches.

The Pteranodon-inspired vehicles were cycling without any riders. Each vehicle features two seats hanging from a colorful Pteranodon. The 80-second ride offers a bird’s-eye-view of the Camp Jurassic.

A reopening date is not yet available but we expect it to be ready any day now.

Pteranodon Flyers closed unexpectedly last April for unknown reasons. It has not reopened since, with Universal adding it to their list of official attraction closures.

The nearby Jurassic Park River Adventure will close for a standard refurbishment this month. It’s possible Universal is hoping to reopen Pteranodon Flyers open by the time the water ride closes.
