REVIEW: We Discovered Some of Our Favorite Drinks and Snacks at the Periscope Pub on the Disney Treasure

Lauren Shahan

Collage of four food and drink items: a cocktail with garnish, a smoky drink on a unique glass, a large pretzel with sauces, and a plate of seasoned bite-sized food.

Join us aboard the Nautilus submarine-themed bar as we deep dive into a review of our favorite drinks and snacks at the Periscope Pub on the Disney Treasure.

Periscope Pub, a steampunk-themed bar, boasts blue leather chairs and a marble countertop. Wooden paneling complements the well-lit shelf of bottles behind the bar, while a large round window with a clock design enhances the adventurous atmosphere.

Periscope Pub is located on deck 5, past Sarabi and opposite Triton Lounge.

Interior

The interior space of the Periscope Pub takes inspiration from both the “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” film and the attraction. It will serve as one of the main event spaces aboard the Disney Treasure, with the screens showing sports coverage and trivia. The ceiling features a giant screen resembling the glass ceiling of a sub looking into the water while various creatures appear swimming around up above you.

Cocktail Reviews

The Narwhal – $13

Kraken Black Spiced Rum, Cointreau, Lime, Orgeat, Ginger

At the Periscope Pub, a tall glass filled with a brown drink sits on the bar counter, topped with colorful gummy worms. It's the perfect blend of drinks and snacks for anyone seeking a whimsical escape.

This drink had a potent ginger flavor. It tasted very similar to a mule with a hint of orange. The gummies that garnished the top of the drink were very sour.

Outis Daquiri – $15

SelvaRey White Rum, Luxardo Maraschino, Lime, Grapefruit

A cocktail with a smoke-filled bubble on top, presented elegantly in a glass with a decorative stand, awaits you at the Periscope Pub. This imaginative drink is perfectly placed on the bar counter for those seeking Disney Treasure's unique blend of drinks and snacks.

This drink was served in a glass shaped like a jellyfish. Part of our review team doesn’t particularly like grapefruit, however, they said this was very good. It had a light and refreshing flavor.

The Diver – $20

Goslings Spirited Seas Ocean Aged Rum, Don’s Gardenia Mix, Lime, Orange, Angostura

At the Periscope Pub, enjoy a cocktail with ice, garnished with a dried slice of citrus and a mint leaf, served in a ribbed glass on the bar counter.

Our review team said this drink “tastes like Christmas.” Cinnamon and orange were the predominant flavors. Served with a strawberry-flavored edible straw, our review team dubbed it “a really good tiki drink.”

Uncharted Beers

Flappin’ Fish Gose (4.3% ABV) – $8

A variety of artistic cocktails are displayed on a bar with elaborate garnishes and smoke effects.

If you love Warheads candies you’ll want to try this. This was a sour beer with a strong watermelon candy flavor. Overall it was definitely drinkable with the taste being light and crisp.

Pub Grub Reviews

Buffalo Wings – $8 for 10 wings, $16 for 20 wings

Served with Carrots, Celery, Blue Cheese Dressing, and Ranch Dressing. Signature Sauce Options: Sweet Barbecue, Buffalo, Sweet Chili, and Hades Hot

A plate with buffalo chicken wings, two dips, and vegetable sticks on a wooden table.

Our review team tried the Hades Hot flavor. The wings were served fresh and hot. Overall they were tender and juicy. They were not outrageously hot for being “Hades Hot,” and had a nice smoky flavor to them as well.

Plant-based Chicken Tenders – $12

10 Tenders served with Carrots, Celery, and Plant-based Ranch Dressing

A plate of breaded chicken tenders with carrot and celery sticks, accompanied by dipping sauces.

Although the tenders appeared as though they likely came frozen and were simply warmed up to serve, they were still well-cooked. The sweet and sour sauce, that was not listed on the menu, paired well with the tenders. If you have certain dietary needs it’s nice that this option is offered.

Loaded Potato Puffs – $8

Fried Potato Puffs topped with Nacho Cheese, Jalapeños, Crisp Bacon, Scallions, and Sour Crea

A bowl of tater tots topped with sliced jalapeños, bacon pieces, and drizzled with sauce.

These potato puffs were cooked perfectly with a crisp exterior and the inside potato being soft. The jalapeno brings spice to the dish. There are only a few throughout and they could certainly be excluded from the dish if you choose. The nacho cheese and sour cream compliment the potatoes nicely, and the bacon was well cooked with a smoky flavor.

Rating out of 7: 6

German Pretzel – $8

A giant Bavarian Pretzel baked soft on the inside, crispy on the outside, and salted; served with German Mustard and Beer Cheese

Large pretzel on a stand with two dipping sauces, next to a bowl of pretzel bites, on a wooden table in a restaurant.

The pretzel was perfect and was tasty enough to be eaten alone without the dips offered. It had a crispy exterior with a soft and doughy interior and the right amount of salt. The beer cheese had more of a nacho cheese flavor. We were slightly disappointed in the mustard as it was more on the sweeter side with no real spiciness to it like a traditional German-style mustard.

Rating out of 7: 7

Fried Coconut Shrimp and Prawn Crackers – $10

with Sweet Chili Sauce and Curry Dippings

A plate of fried shrimp with colorful prawn crackers, served with dipping sauces on a dark dish.

The shrimp was sweet in flavor from the coconut breading and overall very good. We enjoyed the chili dipping sauce but the curry sauce tasted more like an odd mayonnaise and we didn’t enjoy that one as much. The prawn crackers were greasy but good.

Fish and Chips – $16

Beer-battered Haddock Filet with Double-fried Potatoes and mushy Peas served with Tartar Sauce and Malt Vinegar) [Plant-based “Fishless Fish” available upon request]

DCL Disney Treasure Periscope Pub Food5 scaled

The haddock was fantastic – tender and juicy with a nice flavor. The exterior was crispy and well-salted. The potatoes were excellent with a thin exterior, soft interior, and also well-salted. We enjoyed both of the sauces and the mushy peas as well.

Rating out of 7: 7

Jon Ashton’s “Jolly Good” Burger – $16

Hand Crafted Brisket Burger, Tomato, Shredded Iceberg Lettuce, Pickles, and American Cheese on Toasted Sesame Seed Potato Bun with Crisp French Fries and Kewpie Ketchup

A cheeseburger with lettuce and pickles on a sesame seed bun, served on a wooden board with a side of fries in a copper cup.

The burger wasn’t particularly great but it was still a solid burger. The potato bun however was spectacular as it had a soft texture with a lot of flavor. The hamburger patty was good, not too thick or thin. The fries were seasoned with a coating on them.

Rating out of 7: 5

Mini Churros – $6

with Dulce de Leche Dipping Sauce

A bowl of churros on a plate with a small dish of caramel sauce beside them.

These churros were better than the ones at Walt Disney World in our opinion. They had a crispy exterior and were soft and doughy at the center. The churros had a lot of cinnamon sugar flavor and the dipping sauce was very sweet.
