Brand new live entertainment has arrived at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Ecorhythmics (stylized as “ECORHYTHMiCS”) is now performing in DinoLand U.S.A. following the land’s first phase of closures.
ECORHYTHMiCS Band
You’ll find the band’s setup in front of the roller planters blocking the “Cementosaurus.” The Dino-Rama section of DinoLand U.S.A. was the first part of the land to close permanently. This included TriceraTop Spin, Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, and the Fossil Fun Games. The rest of the land is rumored to close in one year. Ecorhythmics will fill a need for more offerings in this area of the park during construction.
They have three platforms and some prop carts. The theme of the show is “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.” The platforms and carts are decorated with repurposed items like life preservers, license plates, cooking pans, bike wheels, birdhouses, and more.
The props and platforms are painted vibrant colors — mostly shades of green to represent the environment. There are some DinoLand touches, like dinosaur prints on the license plates around the edge of the stage and dinos on the bike wheel spokes. There’s even a Dinoco Gasoline logo, which fits in with the old gas station theming of Dino-Rama but is also a reference to Dinoco from the “Cars” universe.
A bumper sticker on a musician’s box stool reads “My cat is a graduate of the Dino Institute.” The cat on the sticker is saying, “Meowosaurus.” Behind the stool is a Dino Institute sign. There are dinosaur figures on a shelf, along with a pair of rubber ducks, possibly in reference to Donald and Daisy appearing in DinoLand for Donald’s Dino-Bash.
A stack of newspapers features a reference to Chester & Hester’s and Donald’s Dino-Bash, including the silhouettes of dinosaurs and Donald side by side. A dinosaur outline has been drawn around a gas nozzle.
According to Cast Members, Ecorhythmics will perform 20 minutes after the hour daily starting at 9:20 a.m. Their final performance each day will be at 3:20 p.m. The band includes former Discovery Island Drummers Flotilla performers, who have performed on Discovery River since 2020.
There are three drummers in the band, each representing Reduce, Reuse, or Recycle. Like their set, their costumes are also made of reused or recycled elements.
They play various Disney songs, from classics like “I Wan’na Be Like You” from “The Jungle Book” to modern hits like “How Far I’ll Go” from “Moana.”
Their instruments include drums, crates, a xylophone, and more.
Between songs, they talk about how the band came together and crack jokes. They also spread the message of conservation, explaining how they created their instruments from items like PVC pipe.
They interact with the audience, at one point going into the crowd to demonstrate the difference between a trash can and a recycling bin. They also asked guests what they do to help the environment.
One guest said they recycle plastic, which prompted the band to show off their shirts made of recycled water bottles. In the past few years, Walt Disney World has created several Cast Member costumes from recycled materials.
The band also gets the audience to join in on the music, getting them to clap and sing along to “Trashin’ the Camp” from “Tarzan.”
