In our last update, we told you that Walt Disney Imagineering filed a Notice of Commencement permit for the signage installation at the Canada Pavilion of EPCOT, where mysterious construction has been ongoing for a year.

Work Continues in EPCOT

In this up close look at Hotel du Canada, the black waterproofing underlayment which goes atop the plywood structure is visible. There is also orange plywood below on what appears to be a new entrance. Roofing will need to be added to this before signage can be installed,
This addition first appeared on the upper level of the Canada Pavilion after a closure for refurbishment from June 2023 to February 2024. In June 2024, construction walls went back up and work began on this potential expansion to the back of the fake hotel.

Walls are still up blocking the area behind Trading Post, as well. This back-area was formerly home to Le Boutiques des Provinces. The upscale shop opened in 1987 and sold jewelry, perfumes, Christmas ornaments, and more. It closed sometime in the early 2000s. The upper level of the Canada Pavilion has not had any other offerings, beyond a nice view since then.
However, the recent construction suggests the former Le Boutiques des Provinces may finally be used for a guest-facing space again. Disney has not made any announcements, but a sign could give us a good idea of what new offering is coming our way.
Canada Pavilion Permit

The permit is for 1920 Avenue of the Stars, the address of the Canada Pavilion. It contracts Design Communications Ltd. to “Install signage.” In recent months, Imagineering has also contracted Design Communications to install signs for Test Track 3.0 at EPCOT and the. upcoming “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
