Chum Animated Figure Moving Again After Effect Was Broken for Months on The Seas with Nemo & Friends at EPCOT

The Chum animated figure located at The Seas with Nemo & Friends attraction is now moving again after the effect being reportedly broken for months.

Chum Animated Figure Moving Once Again

Dark underwater scene with a submarine partially visible through a large hole in a rusted ship's hull, illuminated by green and blue lights.

Chum is a character from the Pixar Animation Studios film “Finding Nemo” and is a member of the fish-friendly shark support group along with Bruce and Anchor. He has a fish hook in his right nostril and has a hyperactive personality.

A shark head protrudes from a hole in a moss-covered, rusty metal structure in a dark, underwater-themed setting.

On the EPCOT attraction, the Chum animated figure is located inside a hole of a sunken ship right before passing by Bruce and is meant to move in and out of the ship.

Since at least the summer of 2024, this effect was not working and Chum was stationary in the scene for quite some time. As of Wednesday, February 19, the animated figure’s movement is once again operational.

The overall movement of the figure is minimal. You can see in the photos above that on the left Chum has retreated into the ship; on the right, he has moved slightly out of the ship.

The Seas with Nemo & Friends is a slow-moving dark ride that’s based on the Pixar film “Finding Nemo.” Guests board a “clamobile” and descend slowly beneath the waves where they travel through coral reefs and run into various characters from the film including Dory, Marlin, Crush, Squirt, and of course, Nemo.
