Disney streaming services saw a successful Q1 in 2025, officially completing a third consecutive profitable quarter. However, the core Disney+ model saw a drop in subscribers after recent price increases.
700,000 users unsubscribed from Disney+ in Q1 2025, meeting expectations predicted by analysts. The drop was countered by 900,000 new subscribers using the Disney+/Hulu bundle. CEO Bob Iger noted that subscriber loss for the core model is expected to continue into Q2.
Streaming was one of the things cited for boosting the entertainment sector, and Iger noted several non-monetary benchmarks in support of a successful quarter, boasting that the company’s services have the top four most-streamed series of the calendar 2024 year. Those four programs were “Bluey,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Bob’s Burgers,” and “Family Guy.”
“Moana” was the most streamed movie across all U.S. streaming platforms for the second year in a row, reaching over one billion streaming hours on Disney+. Its sequel, “Moana 2,” which saw a lucrative box office, is not yet available on the streaming service.
Overall, the Walt Disney Company reported revenue in excess of $24.6 billion for Q1 2025.
