Disney has added a permanent metal gate to the service entrance of the Downtown Disney District Monorail station.

The service entrance is next to a guest walkway leading between Downtown Disney District and Pixar Pals Parking Structure. It has caused significant confusion over the years. We’ve seen several guests who don’t know any better try to enter the Monorail station through the service entrance.

The new gate will stop guests from accidentally accessing the backstage area. It’s a large green gate with two doors that swing forward. A fence leads from the sides of the gate into the nearby bushes.

Amidst the lush greenery and fenced area, a walkway with a sign points to Disney Parks, Downtown Disney, and Resort Hotels under a clear blue sky. To prevent guest confusion, clear indicators guide you effortlessly to the nearby monorail service.

In recent years, a temporary chainlink fence did block the service entrance. But this permanent gate should will more reliably block the area.

A metal gate with green posts stands proudly beside a lamp, surrounded by lush trees and bushes under the clear blue sky. A playful banner featuring a cartoon character hangs from the lamp post, reminiscent of the vibrant charm found at Downtown Disney.

There are signs on a lamppost past the gate pointing to and from Downtown Disney District. But guests entering from the parking structure could miss these and think the service entrance is a guest pathway. It features the same pavement as the sidewalk.

A green metal gate with vertical bars and a padlock secures the monorail service entrance. Behind it, trees and a partially visible structure emerge, while a lone traffic cone rests inside.

The gate is locked and has black mesh across the back, which also stops guests from pushing things through for any reason.

The Disneyland Monorail is currently closed for refurbishment and expected to reopen on Friday, March 7, 2025.
