Rolling planters have been set up at the Yellow-backed Duiker exhibit in Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Yellow-Backed Duiker Exhibit
The Yellow-backed Duiker is an animal located on the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

While walking the trail we noticed that rolling shrub planters had been set up in front of the exhibit area.

When peeking through the shrubs, we could see the exhibit for the Yellow-backed Duiker and the information sign still in place. When the exhibit is open, guests can view the sign for information about the animal.
The sign reads “The Yellow-backed Duiker (Cephalophus Silvicultor)” It goes on to say that there are 17 species of duikers with the Yellow-backed being the largest one and it has the widest distribution of all forest duikers.

The sign also provides information on the animal’s weight, length, gestation, predators, and favorite foods. Near the bottom of the sign is a blurb explaining where the name “duiker” came from stating that it “is a borrowed word from Afrikaans that translates to ‘diver’ and describes their defense mechanism of diving into dense vegetation when alarmed.”

When we spoke to Cast Members regarding the exhibit we received conflicting information on its closure.
One Cast Member informed us that the duiker in the exhibit has been pulled off stage as she is around 20 years old and the species has a life expectancy of about 25 years. Due to this, diagnostics for the duiker are currently underway.

Another Cast Member we spoke with informed us that the duiker is on Kilimanjaro Safaris and the exhibit is closed for construction which should be completed in about two to three weeks. This could be accurate as there appeared to be construction materials lying on the ground in the exhibit behind the shrubs.

Despite the current closure of the duiker exhibit, guests on the Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail can still see other exhibits including a gorilla sanctuary, hippo pool, and bird forest.
