The Earth sculpture outside of Mission: SPACE in EPCOT has been partially restored since our last construction update.
Mission: SPACE Construction
The refurbishment of the Mission: SPACE exterior has been ongoing since May 2023, when we noticed the large Mars sculpture turning gray. Some of the Mars paneling was replaced but there are still unfinished panels on top of the planet. Since our last construction update, it looks like the shiny finish of some red-orange panels was completed.

Compare our above photos. The one on the left was taken on Tuesday, February 18. The one on the right was taken on Tuesday, February 11.

Meanwhile, the scrim has been removed from atop the Earth sculpture. The scrim covered an opening on the sculpture. The sculpture has been enclosed again, but there are white patches where it was resealed. Compare the above photos taken a week apart.

The white patches don’t cover the entire area that was missing. It looks like the Earth was damaged, with a white scratch down the back.

We reported last week on how some of the mosaic pavement had been “fixed” with concrete globs.

There are still significantly damaged mosaics with chipped and faded glass. The mosaics were first added to the pavement in 2023.
